Cameron Shave is a jazz trumpeter, arranger, writer, and bandleader now studying in New York City at the Manhattan School of Music

Cameron has had the honor to study with trumpet players Jon Faddis, Tom Kirinsky, Billy Buss, John Allmark, and many more. Shave has studied arranging with John Allmark, Greg Hopkins, and was selected to be a part of Steve Feifke's arranging mentorship "Lead Sheet to Large Ensemble."

Cameron has been the recipient of multiple awards and scholarships. Shave has been mentioned in JazzTimes Magazine, Downbeat Magazine, and Broadwayworld.com

  Cameron Shave is a winner in the National Foundation for the Advancement of Artists' YoungArts Competition for jazz trumpet. Cameron Shave is also a Grand Finalist of the Young Artists Competition at the Boston Pops and has performed and recorded with the Boston Pops alongside conductor Keith Lockhart.

  Cameron Shave was placed by audition into the 2021 NAfME All-National Jazz Ensemble directed by Jazz at Lincoln Center Vice President of Education, Todd Stoll. Shave is currently a member and Jazz Scholarship-winning competitor of the International Trumpet Guild. Cameron had the honor of being accepted into the Jazz at Lincoln Center "Summer Jazz Academy" in 2020 and 2022. Cameron Shave is an alternate for NYO Jazz at Carnegie Hall 2022 on Jazz Trumpet.

 

   Cameron Shave attended the annual 2022 Essentially Ellington Competition as a proud member of the Foxboro Jazz Ensemble which received 2nd place. Shave was awarded Outstanding Trumpet.

  Shave won the division MVP award for jazz combo performance at the Clark Terry Jazz Competition as well as the division MVP award for jazz piano performance at the Massachusetts Jazz Educators Southeastern District Festival.

Cameron Shave has worked with the Celebrity Series of Boston in performances such as Jazz Along the Charles: a walkable concert on the DCR Boston Esplanade, Concert For One, opening for jazz headliners, and playing community concerts.

 

Shave too has studied arranging for big bands, arranging for jazz combo, arranging for horns, and arranging for strings. He has studied these techniques with arrangers John Allmark, Greg Hopkins, and Chris Walden.

Shave is one of the first five-hundred members of HornFX, a community of trumpet players who combine the natural sound of horns with guitar pedals and analog synth pedals. Other members of this group include Randy Brecker, Rashawn Ross, and more...

Cameron Shave attends Foxboro High School

Cameron directs the CSJO: (the Cameron Shave Jazz Orchestra) a gigging high-school and college big band made up with some of the top young players in New England, The Cameron Shave Mini Big Band: Cameron Shave's very own Septet and writing projectFUNKACADEMY (a contemporary modern jam band), and serves as a substitute choir director and worship accompanist at Bridgwater's Central Square Congregational Church.

 

Cameron has performed as a bugler for national ceremonies in Washington D.C. and performed trumpet at Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker's State of the Commonwealth, 2022.

 

At the age of 14, Cameron Shave was one of ten Berklee Five-Week Program participants out of over four hundred auditioning participants to receive a full-tuition scholarship for the following year's program.
